I’m a wildlife veterinarian and bush pilot, and I spent nearly two decades living deep in Kenya’s Masai Mara—working in the field, flying into remote cases, and building a life shaped by the rhythm of the savannah. After leaving the Mara, I began translating those experiences into small creative works inspired by wildlife, landscapes, and the quiet details of life in the field.
But the story didn’t belong to me alone.
Life in the bush shaped my family too. My son grew up in the Mara surrounded by wildlife from an early age, developing a deep fascination for animals and a dream of following in my footsteps as a wildlife veterinarian. My daughter grew up with a different lens—a true wild child of the savannah, curious, expressive, and drawn to the playful side of the natural world.
Wild Canvas grew naturally from this shared experience. It became a way of expressing the different ways we each connect to the same wild place.
From this foundation, three creative expressions emerged:
AFRIKAWAII — the playful, softer side of the bush, bringing everyday joy and lightness into safari-inspired living.
BUSHBORN — minimal, field-inspired designs rooted in real wildlife encounters and observation.
BUSHBABY.CO — playful apparel for children growing up wild, curious, and deeply connected to nature.
Together, they reflect a single life lived in many ways—through work, family, memory, and the wild places that shaped us.
