Tales from the Mara
The first time a giraffe crossed my path in the Masai Mara, I was hooked. Part of me stayed behind in the savannah even when I left. To ease the ache, I filled my home with wildlife-themed décor and savannah treasures — little pieces of the Mara’s magic that turned ordinary rooms into a personal safari retreat.
I’ve always loved making things with my hands. Crafting is my calm — from sketching wildlife scenes to creating with patterned fabrics. My grandmother was a tailor and passionate fabric collector, and my mother and I would spend hours wandering through fabric stores whenever I went home. Those textures, colors, and prints sparked my lifelong obsession with patterns — a passion that still finds its way into every design I create today.
Years later, I returned to the Mara as a wildlife vet, bush pilot, and the head of anti-poaching dog units, spending nearly two decades living deep in the park’s remote wilderness. Life in the bush shaped not only me but also my children — from crawling in tents to falling asleep to the calls of hyenas.
WildCanvas grew from those years. Each design echoes sunrises over acacia trees, elephants at dusk, and the hush of tall grasses — memories translated into warm textures, earthy colours, and wildlife-inspired patterns so you can create your own special space.
For anyone who has ever left a piece of their heart on the savannah:
